Why I built TrapScan
During my first few years trapping, I met many volunteers running backyard trapping projects and was amazed by how much time and effort they put in. They’re local heroes doing critically important work all over the country, yet lacked dedicated tooling.
I saw project managers bogged down in spreadsheets, chasing people for records, doing manual data entry and constantly wondering “are people not checking traps - or just not reporting?”. The root cause of all this was that recording trap checks wasn’t easy enough.
So, I built TrapScan to make it as quick and easy as possible, because the more effortless it is, the more people will do it. Equally important was to show them real-time impact of their work, which is why we have personal stats and interactive project dashboards available to everyone.
TrapScan is now a fully featured community trapping management tool, and it’s as close to free as I can make it. What you pay keeps it running and funds ongoing improvements. I hope you find it good value.
